Best Creative & Culture
I'm just about done with this whole "creativity is dead" shtick. You know the drill: The internet made everything public, so we're all doomed to repeat ourselves and be terrible at making art. We've got a generation of kids growing up thinking they have nothing new to say because they saw that meme about how everything has already been done.
But then I remember that every single person on this website is still coming up with fresh, hilarious, and downright brilliant takes on video games. So, you know what? Creativity is alive and well.
Now, we're not all blessed with the same creative muscles—some of us are better at drawing, some at writing, some at coding, and some at...playing games. (That last one is a valid skill set, by the way.) But the good news is that you don't need to be an expert in any one field to appreciate the creativity and culture of gaming.
Let's start with some of our favorite creators on YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter who are killing it right now:
Ninja: Yeah, yeah, I can hear you groaning already, but hear me out. Ninja may be one of the biggest streamers around, but he's also insanely talented at Fortnite. Plus, his meme game is on point. You know who else has great taste in memes? Our community!
Now, these creators are just the tip of the iceberg. There are countless others out there making amazing content that you should definitely check out. But what makes them so special isn't just their individual talents—it's how they're pushing the boundaries of gaming culture as a whole.
For instance, take a look at some of the more niche communities within our community: speedrunners, modders, cosplayers, and more. These folks are taking games to places that the original creators never imagined—and that's where the real magic happens.
Speedrunners, for example, are people who play through games as fast as humanly possible, often finding shortcuts and glitches along the way. Modders are people who modify games to create entirely new experiences—think of it like playing with someone else's Lego set but making something completely different out of it. Cosplayers are people who dress up as their favorite video game characters and bring them to life in real life.
These communities are pushing the boundaries of what's possible with video games, and they're doing it in ways that are genuinely creative and culturally significant. And that's what makes gaming so special—it's not just about playing a game; it's about being part of a community that's constantly evolving and pushing the boundaries of creativity and culture.
So, yeah, I may be a little tired of hearing about how everything is already done, but when I see all the amazing content our community is creating, I know that creativity is alive and well. And we should celebrate that every chance we get.
